this and that

Friday already?

The latest on my car is that the thermo-thing-a-ma-jig had to be replaced and then that lead to the module something-or-other needing to be removed and replaced....All I know is that we are into over $300 worth of repairs so far and we aren't even sure if the problem has been fixed. (scream here)

One of my resolutions this year was to learn signing for the deaf. My main interest in this is to be able to communicate with Dave's niece, Kelly, who is totally deaf. This amazing mother of two adorable children is so delightful and it frustrates me whenever we go up to Delaware and I am not able to have a conversation with her. I do my best with facial expressions and having her read my lips....but, it is really very minimal. She can "converse" best when someone signs with her as most of the rest of the family can do including her two children (ages 23 mos. and 5). I am starting with learning the signing alphabet and then I plan to go on with words and phrases. So far I am up to the letter "S". I am determined to do this...

Ironically, my 17 year old cat (very old in cat years!!), Gizmo, is now, unfortunately, totally deaf. As I awoke this morning she was lying there right in my face staring at me. I started wondering if I could find another way to communicate with her. (sounds crazy, I know...stay with me here) So, I blinked my eyes once to see if she would mimic me. She did. Excitedly, I blinked my eyes twice. She sleepily looked at me, blinked once and then closed her eyes and went back to sleep.

So much for my developing a new way to relate to a deaf cat. : )

This is twice I have commented and then turn right around and delete them (not on purpose, Blogger caused me to do it). Sowwy. I got tickled at Gizmo blinking at you. So sorry to hear about your car problems, just hope this will be all that they find.
Also good news on the change over, I found out how to be able to NOT have to sign in each time so I really now cannot tell any difference at all between the two.
Take care and have a great day!
