Tomorrow my girlfriend, Carol, and I will be heading over to Mississippi for two days of wonderfully mindless R and R.
The two of us do this little trip a couple of times a year or so just to get away from it all and temporarily not think about all of the craziness going on in our lives. We have established our own tradition with our little gambling junkets and I wouldn't trade these times for the world!
There are two casinos right in the heart of Philadelphia, MS and that is our destination. It takes about 2 and 1/2 hours to get there by car and that driving time is spent with non-stop gabbing about anything and everything. Sometimes we bring CD's to play on the way, but end up talking so much that we forget to listen or turn them off entirely.
Traditionally, we both pack a little lunch for later, but end up eating it almost as soon as we get going-- no matter how early it is. We laugh about this but we do it every time!
I limit exactly how much money I am willing to play with and do not even take a bank card with me to be enticed to spend more than I budgeted. I pretty much play the penny, nickel, or quarter slots the entire time and have a ball! Slot machines have gotten to be much more entertaining these days with all of the graphics, etc.
Because we always go to the same place: http://www.pearlriverresort.com/resort_golden_moon.aspx, we have accrued complimentary points and our rooms are free which is always nice. We get coupons for our meals and/or get it all "comped" before heading home. So, all in all, it is not really an expensive little getaway.
Of course, we go there with great anticipation....always hoping to win a huge jackpot (even though we know that the odds are against that happening)! I always say that one of these days I am going to win big and have my picture taken with that huge styrofoam check in my hands! And, of course, that picture will be hanging somewhere on the "Winner's Wall" in the casino so look for me there!
A girl can dream, can't she? : )
(Wish us luck...I'll post the full report when I return on Thursday!)
