Mint Juleps and Guacamole

The Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo are sharing the day today.

Dave and I usually make our way up to Louisville for the Derby, but not this year. Between not making our reservations ahead of time and all of the traveling that we have ahead of us, we opted not to go. We always stay with his friends in their Lexington home and have a wonderful time...I will miss not being there this year. Instead, we will make mint juleps (and guacamole and chips in honor of Cinco de Mayo!) and watch the race here at my house. Being the gamblers that we are, bets will be placed at our local race track prior to the event...who knows...maybe I can win enough to pay for my new roof! Stay tuned for my betting results tomorrow...

Although we will miss doing the Derby we will be heading out to see Elton John in person later tonight!! Dave and I both won a pair of tickets to this concert....he was a "call in" radio winner and I won by entering the local newspaper's contest. I wish that I could say that we were sitting on the front row...however, our seats are way up there in the nosebleed section. Oh well...it will still be awesome hearing Elton belt out his music!

I'll be sure to take my binoculars along...

Right, it's not the human game...

You're probably en route to the concert as I type this. I sure hope you show us the view you had from te nosebleed section.
