Yesterday morning Dave and I decided to take the 2 1/2 hour drive over to the Philadelphia, Mississippi casino. I called....got a free room and we were off.
We got there around noonish and a little more than 24 hours later we were back in Bham.
Profitable trip for me, but, unfortunately, not so for Dave. I hit a couple of slot machine jackpots and actually brought money home with me to put in my bank account. Hmmmm....maybe my winnings will offset the brand new roof that cost me a lot of mula.... Every little bit helps. The first jackpot was on a nickel slot machine and the second one on a penny machine!
We had a good time and stuffed ourselves at the buffets that we got "comped". It was a "Seafood Buffet" on Saturday night and it had everything that you could possibly desire. (well, maybe not everything! ha ha) As we waited in line, people were passing us by with plates overflowing with steamed shrimp and king crab claws. Dave loves to get as much of the sweet crabmeat out of the shells and fill a bowl with it....he carefully cracks open the shells one by one to release the meat and, then, when it is fully ready, he gets some warm butter and.....he is in crab meat heaven, as he eats it all at once!
I opted for the whole catfish...even though it was fried and will probably raise my cholesterol a few points...it was delicious...and worth every greasy, crispy bite!
The only problem with buffets is that you always end up with more on your plate than you can possibly eat. Suddenly, foods that you would never have as part of your diet are calling out to you....and, next thing you know you are devouring rich bread pudding along with Chinese egg rolls. My goal is to try a little taste of several things. The good news is that they come by often and remove the "evidence" as they clear your "used" plates away. The bad news is that, unfortunately, all of those "little tastes" add up to many, many calories. But, for the moment it is a bit like being a little kid in a candy store...such fun!
We didn't get to sleep until after two in the morning...so, as you can imagine....we are both pooped.
Well, I'm off to do a final $$$$$ count and get a deposit ready for the bank tomorrow! : )
