Monday stuff.

The rooms are dry and the machines in my basement are gone! Ahhhhh....peace and quiet and no blown fuses. The other good news is that the plumber may actually get here sometime tomorrow! The sooner the better in that I will finally be able to do laundry and stop skimping on toilet paper(too much information?!).

We were supposed to have some snow again in the middle of the night...but, it never materialized. That happens a lot down here. That being said, we did get some cold rain overnight causing a little icing on the roadways. There were fender benders going on all over the place during rush hour this morning as the temps continued to drop into the 20's...We Southerners just don't know how to navigate winter precipitation...that's for sure.

In the meantime, Janet, in Maryland, and I laughed over the fact that she couldn't get over all of the clamor about a dusting of snow here....while she and my son still have 3 feet of snow outside their door....And, that Jenny and Adam in Minneapolis are probably laughing at the people in Maryland and D.C. making a deal over their snow when they live with many feet of snow all winter long into the spring!

Valentine's Day was lovely yesterday. Dave and I did absolutely nothing but relax and eat pretty much all day. He brought over some lobster tails that we cooked for dinner last night...and they were delish. He also had some mussels in a red garlic sauce that I mixed with whole wheat pasta and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. A salad and a nice glass of red wine and we had a great meal!! The beautiful red roses from him made it all even more special...not to mention the "Day at the Spa" certificate that he gave me. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. : )

I made him pink heart pancakes and a rice crispy treat pink heart for dessert and bought him some work out clothing for our walks together....and, of course, the Valentine's necessity: lots of his favorite candy!!(He will need to do lots of walking after devouring all of the candy!)

Love the ice skating part of the Olympics. It is so graceful and beautiful while technically challenging.

I thought that the Olympic's opening ceremonies were quite good...but, difficult to get into in light of the Georgian luge athlete's death earlier that day. What a tragedy! The luge is one of those "sports" that I really never understood....lying on a sled going up to 95 miles an hour on a slick and dangerous slide that snakes around and around. I just don't get it. It is the same way that I feel about watching the car races like the Daytona 500. I guess that some things are just not meant to be understood...? (like men!! ha ha)

My thoughts and prayers are with Dave's 88 yr. old mom who is recovering from colon surgery (up in Delaware) after a tumor was found during a colonoscopy. This all happened very quickly as she collapsed the other day and was taken to the hospital where they found her quite anemic which led to the colonoscopy...

The good news is that the nurse told him today that she is doing quite well and should be moved out of intensive care and into a regular room today. They are even getting her to sit up already and will soon try and get her to do a little walking.

His brother and sister in law drove over from Pittsburgh to be with her over the weekend...so, that was good....and, Dave is starting to look into flights to go and visit her sometime soon. I know how difficult it is to be getting news about your loved ones via long distance...
