OK, I admit it....
I love to receive catalogs!
I will read anything that comes in the mail! It is obvious if one sees the ample stack of magazines and catalogs sitting by my bed awaiting my perusal.
As the holiday season approaches, the catalogs increase in number. Ahhhh!
Some of these journals are filled with items to "make our lives easier"....and, as I look through them..... one thought always comes to my mind...."Why didn't I think of that?!!!". If I had, I could be lounging on some remote island right now, blogging on my portable computer and receiving fat royalty checks from the catalog people...
Here are a few examples of some items that I just recently observed as I flipped through the pages:
1) "See Through Chair Protectors" $11.95 each (What? Isn't this just a sheet of clear plastic draped over your dining room chair?)
2) "Wine Glass Snack Tray" $19.95 each (This is a small notched tray that you slide your wine glass into so that you can free up your other hand to eat the snacks. Clever?)
3) "Crystal Crescent Side Dishes" $19.95 each (Touted as "elegant as it is practical, this crescent-shaped dish tucks in close to a dinner plate so that your table won't feel overcrowded"...Who knew that tables had feelings?!)
4) "Collapsible Measuring Cups" $19.95 set (Flexible- so that they store flat in a drawer...just pop them out to use them! Not a bad idea!)
5) "Fridge Alert" $12.95 (If you leave your refrigerator door open for more than 30 seconds an alarm sounds--I already have that alarm---it's called my power bill!)
6) "BraBaby Cage" set of two (!) $19.95 (This plastic cage 'ball' holds your underwire bra in place while it is in your washing machine. Do you really want a plastic ball rattling around in your washing machine? Seems as if hand-washing would be a whole lot better. But, then, it is a bargain that is hard to resist as you get two for the price of one!)
7)"Battery Storage Box $29.95! (The catalog says: "Be prepared for an emergency-be it a storm or earthquake. This plastic box comes filled with a small aluminum flashlight and alkaline batteries." I think that an old shoe box would probably work just as well to store my batteries. Agree? )
And, finally:
8) "Paw Pro Protection" reg. $9.95 sale price $6.90 (This is an "All natural de-icer for dogs". You are supposed to spray your dogs paws with this substance and it "will prevent ice and snow from clumping on his paws, legs and belly". Isn't that what those cute little doggie boots are for???!?)
: )

I guess that last item would be useful if you had sled dogs in Alaska. I'm sure about the other items, but I do love catalogs!
