Have you heard about the newest diet plan?

Eating slowly.

What a revelation. : I

It's true, I read an article from the Wall Street Journal that says that our eating habits have more to do with how many calories we ingest (that ultimately leads to our putting on weight) than anything else.

Some of their suggestions:

Chew your food at least 15 to 20 times.

Use smaller dishes so that portions look bigger.

Try to be the last person to start eating.

Put foods in small serving containers.

Eat alone.

Drink a lot during the meal.

Decide how much you are going to eat before sitting down.

Cover half of your plate with veggies or salad so there's not much room for less healthful foods.

Don't eat in front of the tv or in the car.

Have less of a variety of choices when you eat.

Pay attention to the extras such as bread, etc.

Don't these researchers have more that they can do with their expertise?

It sounds to me like they are taking all of the fun out of eating!

Well, I am going to go and eat my teensy, tiny bowl of 1 cup of plain Cheerio's by myself, tv off, gulping down tons of orange juice and being careful to chew each spoonful at least 20 times.

Then later I will eat a teensy, tiny bag of Raisinets. : )

Have a nice day and eat slowly!

Hi Grammie, speaking of food....here's a recipe for you to try while Owen is visiting with you.....It's called:
Grammie's Favorite Recipe!
1 cuddled GRANDCHILD: (a little boy)

1 proud Grandmother: soft boiled and tender.

1 well-beaten fairy tale book.

1 stuffed teddy bear with a far away look.

1 washed, dried blanket, satin bordered, with rips;

1 freshly baked cookie with chocolate chips.

METHOD:

Toss ALL except Grammie...straight into the air;

Drop into squeaking, rocking arm chair;

Fold in Grammie's outstreached arms;

Tuck Teddy and blanket around small childs charms;

Open fairy tale book to very first page;

Begin by saying, "Now when I was your age".....

Mix stories of bunnies, bears, piggies and soup;

Repeat bedtime stories until childs eyelids droop.

When the cake has crumbled and child starts to yawn....

Place child, teddy and blanket in warm bed until dawn.....

YIELD: TWO HAPPY PERSONS!
