Our Life's Stories

A friend recently loaned me an incredible little book to read called, Everyday Sacred, A Woman's Journey Home (Sue Bender).

I hadn't really made the necessary time to really get into it until yesterday. I was having "one of those days" where my thoughts were heading in an introspective direction and it just seemed to be the thing to pick up and read.

As I made my way through it I am found myself pulling some life lessons out of it. I always think about the "stories" that make up each of our lives...unique and personal...leaving us with the decision as to whether to share them with others or not. Our stories change from day to day and year to year...but, they always remain a part of who we are.

I have always been the type of person who loves to hear other's stories if they are willing to share them with me. One can learn so much by just listening...and with this in mind, I really loved the following passage from the book:

"Stories move in circles.

They don't go in straight lines. So it helps if you listen in circles.

There are stories inside stories and stories between stories, and finding your way through them is as easy and as hard as finding your way home.

And part of the finding is the getting lost.

And when you're lost, you start to look around and to listen."

I guess that one of the real reasons that each of us "blog" is to give our stories a voice...in hopes that others are listening...

: )

I blog for the same reason Hip Hop artists let their underwear show.
