It is the return of American Idol !!!!

"Men often mistake notoriety for fame, and would rather be remarked for their vices and follies than not to be noticed at all." Harry S. Truman

Last night was the beginning of the much anticipated Season 7 of American Idol.

Well, much anticipated by me, of course....the "Grammie Idol Groupie".

I guess that it all stems from my love of people watching....and this is the ideal venue for that...even though I must admit that these "off the wall" auditions aren't really my favorite part of the Show. Sometimes they leaving me feeling a little sad, especially for the people who really believe that they have talent and, obviously don't...or the people that feel the need to come in ridiculous outfits or nutty persona's just to be "seen".

What I really love about Idol is when the truly talented and undiscovered person comes through and succeeds....that's the real entertainment.

But, when the auditions begin...the "crazies" come out.... all looking for their 5 seconds of fame...

Amongst the most notorious "crazies" were:

a totally glitter-faced woman trying to resurrect the sound of Janis Joplin...but falling quite short...and then yelling out obscenities when she was turned down,

a "hairy warrior" (from Return of the Jedi?) who went and got a waxing during the show only to return bare chested and lacking any talent or good judgement;

a woman dressed as the Star Wars character Princess Leia-- admonishing the judges for always picking the "pretty people" instead of her--a total weirdo;

an older gentleman singing an off key song called "No Sex Allowed" (he got waaaaay too much air time in my opinion);

and, finally a "Paula Stalker" singing: “If you were a blackboard, I would chalk you” and “If you were a bath tub, I would caulk you, if you were a dog, I would walk you...etc. etc.” Puleeze!

It was quite a night.

(And for you other Idol fanatics....there are two more hours of it again tonight...!)

Oh, no...not another night. I love Idol when it really gets going. I usually start watching when the final twelve start. But, I was pulled to watch last night. I could not believe the glitter girl. She got too much air time once she started going off. We'll have to talk about this as the season progresses.
