When the folks at Droll Yankees sent me the new bottom for my feeder, I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. This one supposedly "flings" the squirrel off of the perches when they try to get onto it. It is run by a rechargeable battery and doesn't affect the birds at all. The weight of the squirrel sets it off.
I decided to take a "wait and see" attitude over the last week occasionally checking it to make sure that the squirrels weren't on it having a great time going around and around.
So far, so good.
My birds have been feasting undeterred and the food is not disappearing within one day anymore.
Ah, life is good.

Great picture Grammie. I want a new camera and I don't know what kind to get. The picture of the cardinal is terrific. You did take it didn't you? Everytime I see these great pictures on blogs and they tell what kind of camera they use, I look it up and they are hundreds of dollors.
Any help?
so, it would be worth it to see a squirrel flung off a bird feeder...I hate to admit it, but, they are not a favorite of mine....
