The days are zooming by lately and I can't seem to decelerate time no matter how hard I try.
Taxes are due this month. I'm happy to say that in spite of my crazy "papers scattered on the floor" organizing, everything is signed, sealed and delivered. All I have to do now is write Uncle Sam a nice, fat check before the 18th....aack!
My calendar is full of upcoming trips through December! While all of them are for "happy" things, it is a lot of traveling for a self-professed homebody.
Next up is a "Girlie Getaway" to the Georgia mountains staying in a house on a lake. This will be next Tuesday through Friday and will be filled with lots of hiking, relaxing, reading, and just "being". Ahhh.
I am so looking forward to it, but must admit that I have some trepidation (as always) about leaving Gizmo, the cat. I refuse to board her at the vet's where she will be cooped up in a little cage...and, instead leave her here in the house with my neighbor looking in on her every day. But, I still worry about her now that she is almost 18 year's old. The older she gets, the more she follows me everywhere and needs extra loving. All of you pet lovers out there can understand, I am sure.
Crazy "springtime weather" here as the temperatures have gone from the 80's to the 40's! Maybe I put away my winter things prematurely? brrr
Yesterday, the Oprah Show had me in tears as she brought in a battalion of soldiers who had been in Iraq for the last seven months and were now returning home to be reunited with their families. In true "Oprah form", she had the families right there to surprise the soldiers. It was very touching to see these young men back with their parents, wives, and kids. No matter what one's feelings are about this War, it is always heartwarming to see the soldiers return home safely. It reminds us of the very human element to all of this...
American Idol results show was on television last night and, guess who's back for another week of off-key singing and smirking? Yep, Sanjaya. Could he end up winning the whole thing??? (gasp) I hope not, because that would make such a mockery of the show and the truly talented kids who are on it. What are people thinking?
And, my final "T": Tournament. I have won the bragging rights this year by winning the "Family Basketball Bracket Challenge". I picked my alma mater to go all the way...and they did.
"Go Gators"!!
I thought that it was quite an accomplishment to top my sons, daughters-in-law, grandson (yes, he even had a bracket prediction!), and Dave. Sorry guys....but you don't mess around with "Three Point Grammie"!
: )
